Christmas 2004

We've had no snow like we did last year, but the decorations still went up by the middle of the month. Come with us while we celebrate this two thousand and fourth birthday of the Son here in the Valley. We couldn't take the traditional ride through town to see the lights since my brother sold his mini van(!!?!?). Consequently, you get to see the decorations we put up, a taste of Christmas events, and the traditional (second) Reawakening of Frosty:

Stockings Finally, Christmas 2004, we get some real stocking hardware. In the past we used these goofy things that were supposed to bend down around the mantel. But alas, they didn't bend around our big chunk of wood mantel. So this year, I forged up some brackets and a rod to hold them. It works well, but is not too easy to remove the stockings without removing the rod. Especially when they are loaded with "Booty!"

For the first year ever, the stair rail joined in the holiday festivities. They were decorated with greenery and white lights. Little red berries added to the requisite red and green color scheme. Decorated Stairs

Fake Metal Trees These are little metal Christmas Tree decorations that I make every year. I've been doing it for about ten years so we have about 100 laying around. I gave one as a gift exchange at my workplace. The lucky recipient spent most of the exchange trying to trade!

Here is the real Christmas tree - in fact it is real -$50 worth of real. No tinsel so it still looks real. Next year, I want to coat the tree with that little tinsel so it looks more festive, in a 1960's way. Back then, tin (with that dasterdly lead) was used. But too many kids sucked it up like spagetti and ruined their brains and then went into politics and are now running our country. Therefore, I'll use the plastic kind. Real Christmas Tree

Xmas Flowers This is a standard issue Christmas Flower. It has red leaves along with green leaves. You can find them in every flower shop, garden center, grocery store, and home improvement store. They represent acceptance of our world's rich differences and global concensus on buying these plants.

These are the lights from Grandma's house. Every year, these lights get strung up next to these big windows. When on, the reflections in the windows double the effective light count. Pretty festive! Grandmother's Lights

Santa on Piano Santa sometimes incarnates himself as a little nylon bodied two footer that hangs out in the house to see who's naughty and nice. Here, Santa examines a possible Santa gift for a good little boy or girl.

Here's Frosty for his second aniversery Christmas Time appearance. Note his presentation in front of thousands of twinkly Christmas Lights. Frosty isn't really there. I greenscreened him and then photoshopped him. See more of Frosty's Reawakening. Frosty on Lights
