Canada, ey?

Rental MiniVan Here's the loaner van. A loaner is the best type of car to take to unknown territories because, according to my brother-in-law, a "rental car will go anywhere."

Ready to roll out. Note junior set up with pillow and DVD player. Also, you'll note my dual hatted functions of photographer and driver. Family Ready to Roll

Mid Atlantic Road Signs Signs of the Mid Atlantic States. They become a bit blurry as it was raining and dark by the time we got to Joisey.

New England signs. Watch out for Mooses. And what's this about New Englander's eating right? They eat the same crap the rest of us do. New England Road Signs

Truck at LLBean Here's the Cat. This is a catamaran ferry that plies the waters between Bar Harbor, ME and Yarmouth, NS.

Junior aboard the Cat. Not really a road, but a course. We scrambled for seats by the windows. Turns out, there was no shortage of seats. Hand Soap at LLBean

Other View of LL Bean Here's the main deck of the Cat. Note the tables being claimed by singles. Next time, we'll go for those. The gift shop had $60 hats.

The dual rooster tails of some whoomping big engines that make this thing go about 50mph over the water. We were looking down about 30 feet. Family Ready to Roll

Mid Atlantic Road Signs Here's the map of the Cat. It has red, purple, blue, green, and pink sections. It also has stairs and a spare.

The fog sets in as we arrive at Yarmouth. We are waiting in the hour long line to go through Canadian customs. The cones are a nice, bright orange. New England Road Signs

Truck at LLBean Evening of the first day in Nova Scotia. This is a flamed PT in Lunenburg. About every third car was a PT.

On the second day, as we were going cross-island to get to the whale watching mecca of Digby on Long Island, we had to go over some dirt roads. The roads were pretty smooth, with some sort of smooth coating. This let us go real fast on the dirt road. When we got off, the tires were making very scary noises. Upon inspection, we had about a 1" coating of tar on all four wheels. Luckly, some centripetal forces at high road speeds compelled the coating off the tires. Hand Soap at LLBean

Joe Casey on Petite Passage Here's the Joe Casey ferry. This thing crosses between Westport and Teaverton over Petite Passage. It leaves every half hour. No time to get out and look around. These guys don't waste time.

Not much road trip action until the Flower Pot Park at the Bay of Fundy on Day 5. Here is another G-Cart, but done with metal working tools versus the wood working tools I used. New England Road Signs

Truck at LLBean I'm cruising down the road at about 60 - 62mph. I hear a little noise and turn around. There in the rear view is a youngster on an ATV wanting to go bye. I gun it. I get to about 65mph. He's still there. I slow for a turn, but just barely. He comes around my left and off the road to the left. He takes off down the dirt road.
